Salary: $60,000 per year

Position Summary:

The Director of Nourished Neighbors Food Program provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Center For Family Services' food access and nutrition program.. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding community-based food distribution initiatives that address food insecurity and promote health equity. The Director ensures program excellence, compliance, fiscal responsibility, and strong community partnerships while advancing the agency's mission to strengthen families and communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide vision, leadership, and direction for the Nourished Neighbors Food Program.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand food access and community impact.
  • Align program goals with organizational priorities and community needs.
  • Monitor program outcomes and ensure continuous quality improvement.

Program Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee daily operations of food pantries, mobile distributions, and related services.
  • Ensure efficient, safe, and equitable food distribution practices.
  • Establish and monitor service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations.

Grant Management & Funding

  • Manage program budgets and ensure responsible fiscal oversight.
  • Oversee grant implementation, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Development and Finance teams on funding proposals and sustainability efforts.
  • Identify new funding and partnership opportunities.

Community Partnerships & Outreach

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with food banks, vendors, donors, and community organizations.
  • Represent the agency at community meetings, coalitions, and public events.
  • Strengthen referral networks and collaborative service models.
  • Support public awareness and outreach efforts related to food insecurity.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive service delivery.

Data, Reporting & Evaluation

  • Oversee data collection, tracking, and reporting for program outcomes.
  • Analyze service trends and community needs to guide program planning.
  • Prepare reports for funders, leadership, and regulatory agencies.
  • Utilize data to support program improvement and advocacy efforts.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to food safety, health, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies and external regulations.
  • Monitor risk management practices related to facilities, transportation, and food handling.
  • Address operational issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or at least 2+ years of experience in food related field;
  • 3 to 5 + years minimum of progressive experience in food programs, community services, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and program management experience.
  • Knowledge of food insecurity, nutrition assistance programs, and community health systems.
  • Experience managing grants, budgets, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively across systems.
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting systems.
  • Nonprofit or mission-driven sector experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to bend, lift, walk, and carry up to approximately 40 pounds as required for program operations and food distribution activities.
  • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours.
