Position Summary:

Center For Family Services is seeking a part time access worker for our Outpatient Program located in East Orange NJ.    The Outpatient program provides individual, family, and group counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families to address personal conflicts, relationship problems and face life's challenges. Counseling is provided to adults and children age 5 and older. 

Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to;

  • Embrace and demonstrate the mission, philosophy and values of Center for Family Services.
  • Coordinate coverage with administrative staff for office hours from 10:30- 6:30 Monday - Thursday and Friday 9-5
  • Coordinate and oversee referrals/intakes between program administrative staff.
  • Act as point person for program referrals between referral source and clinicians.
  • Provide telephone coverage and initial screening for individuals contacting the agency for counseling services to determine appropriateness for level of care and/or program.
  • Coordinate and schedule intake assessments for families and clinicians in offices throughout northern region including insurance information's eligibility and verification.
  • Provide assistance with IIC referrals and billing as needed.
  • Complete letters to participants as needed.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in electronic health record (EHR) in a thorough, timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain ethical and legal compliance
  • Oversee/responsible for the scheduling of psychiatric services for Outpatient.
  • Provide direct care support to psychiatric staff.
  • Manage client medication inquires and medical labs by researching client records and coordinating with psychiatric staff and primary care physicians in the community.
  • Coordinate medical labs as requested by psychiatric staff.
  • Complete preauthorization's as required.
  • Provide updated documentation and maintenance of client electronic record to ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and contractual requirements; pharmacy contact, medications, PCP, allergies, negative side effects, current medical condition.


    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline i.e. psychology, social work, or related field.
    • Strong working knowledge of computers.
    • 2 years' experience in social services.
    • Experience with an EHR system helpful.
    • Ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively.
    • Must be flexible with change, possess excellent communication skills; ability to multi-task.
