Center For Family Services is seeking an experienced Bus Driver for our Mosaic Early Learning Program. This individual will transport children or adults to school, Centers and/or Programs for related activities. The Bus Driver ensures safety of passengers and pedestrians and transports equipment and supplies from site to site. The Bus Driver is also responsible for maintaining a clean vehicle interior and exterior, performing daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance of the vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director and Site Supervisor:
- Provide daily transportation for children to and from the Head Start Center
- Provide transportation for children on all field trips (educational and/or recreational)
- Provide transportation for children to and from the Head Start Center within other inorganic schools.
Duties: Daily and/or Regularly:
- Prior to each trip complete driver's School Bus Condition Report and Daily Mileage log as mandated by the Federal Standards
- Transport children from inorganic schools during midday as required
- Clean and sanitize the interior of the bus weekly, and ensure all windows are clear of any debris
- Keep vehicle locked and always secured
- Submit Daily Mileage logs and vehicle condition reports weekly to Site Supervisor
- Submit gas receipts weekly to Site Supervisor
- Daily inform the Site Supervisor and Center Supervisor of any significant occurrences, and forward information received from parents and/or center between the times of pick-up and delivery to and from the center
- Pick up and drop off correspondences to the BCCAP office as required
- Immediately inform the Site Supervisor of any vehicle problems and/or accidents
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures policy
Duties Periodic:
- Transport children on all field trips, following proper procedures
- Notify the Center Supervisor, Bus Monitor and parents, when requested by the Site Supervisor, when transportation is not available due to driver absence or mechanical malfunction
- Submit in writing within two weeks a route and schedule of each child's morning pick-up time and afternoon drop-off time. This must be periodically revised to make corrections due to the changes in enrollment and/or bus routes
- Drive for other centers, when needed
- Transport parents to Center Committee and Policy Council meetings as needed
- Assure that parents are adhering to the Head Start transportation regulations
- Conduct practice school bus evacuation drills by-monthly
- Drive the bus to DMV Inspection site
- Assure the bus is always kept in excellent operating condition by completing regularly scheduled maintenance service intervals as designated by the Transportation Coordinator
Requirements
- Ability to read and write
- At least one year driving experience
- No record of traffic violations
- Valid NJ Driver License
- Valid Commercial Driver License with P and S endorsement
- Minimum 21 years old
- License must be in good standing
- Initial and bi-annual physical examination and Mantoux (tuberculin test). The initial must be submitted to the Administrative Coordinator
- Strictly adhere to the Mosaic early Learning Head Start Discipline Policy.
- Strictly adhere to the policy on confidentiality by not discussing children, families or staff with anyone other than the appropriate Head Start Staff or consultant, nor in the presence of children or families.
- Competence in computer operations appropriate to job description
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures as defined in the "SOP" manual.
- Report to work on time and with regularity to ensure continuity of services for
- children and families.
- Attend center staff meetings when requested.
- Attend monthly In-service.
- Attend workshops and training, as required
- Complete an employee evaluation annually
