Location: Egg Harbor Township, NJ
Job Type/Status: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (with flexibility for early or late client appointments)

Salary: $45,000 to $52,000

Position Summary:

The CADC or CADC Intern (CADCI) provides substance use assessments and coordinates services for clients referred by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP). Under the direction of the Regional Clinical Supervisor and the Program Director, the Substance Abuse Counselor (CADC or CADCI) is responsible for providing the contracted number of substance abuse assessments and urine drug screens to DCPP-referred clients, along with the appropriate referral and case management services. Responsibilities also include ensuring all client information is reported to DCPP Caseworker. CADC will coordinate with the Counselor Aide(s), acting as a liaison with local treatment providers and filing of all necessary reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments using provided tools.
  • Collect urine drug screens from clients (training provided).
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements, contracts, and CPSAI Policy and Procedure manual.
  • Submit timely reports and updates to DCPP caseworkers.
  • Attend DCPP meetings (including but not limited to consortiums, multidisciplinary team meetings, and plan of safe care) as required by the contract and funding requirements.
  • Maintain consistent communication with DCPP and internal staff.
  • Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Maintain documentation of all services and contacts.
  • Review, complete, maintain and monitor all required documentation in systems such as AWARDS, DocuSign, and/or any other electronic technology system within established timeframes in accordance with Federal, State, County, accreditation, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Advocate for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery as well as empower clients to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery.
  • Attend individual and group supervisions and attend all required staff meetings.
  • Deliver services in a culturally competent and linguistically appropriate manner, ensuring alignment with program and client needs.
  • Uphold agency policies, complete all required documentation and participate in ongoing training.

Requirements: 

  • CADC or CADC Intern (must obtain CADC certification within 3 years of hire).
  • Experience in substance use or social services preferred.
  • High school diploma required (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Competency in the utilization of Electronic Health Records preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years 
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
