Child Abuse Prevention Consultant (5522)

Position Summary:

The Center for Family Services (CFS) is seeking a passionate and experienced Fee-For-Service Child Abuse Prevention Consultant to support the mission of the New Jersey Child Assault Prevention (NJCAP) program within the NJ4S Camden County Hub. This role is dedicated to promoting safety, empowerment, and resilience among children and families through evidence-based prevention education and community engagement.

The Prevention Consultant will coordinate and facilitate NJCAP's empowerment workshops for students (Pre-K through high school), school staff, and parents/caregivers, focusing on children's rights to be Safe, Strong, and Free. In addition, this position supports NJ4S's broader prevention initiatives by linking youth and families to resources, identifying service gaps, and strengthening community partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Workshop & Facilitation

? Facilitate NJCAP and other prevention-based workshops for students in grades Pre-K through 12. ? Conduct school staff and parent/caregiver sessions to introduce NJCAP strategies and child protection concepts.

? Engage students through interactive methods, including role-plays, discussions, and developmentally appropriate activities.

? Create safe and supportive spaces for students to discuss sensitive issues, ask questions, and disclose reportable concerns when necessary.

? Partner with school staff to report concerns of abuse, neglect, or bullying to the State Central Registry (SCR) at DCP&P.

? Collaborate with fellow facilitators to ensure cohesive and high-quality program delivery. ? Participate in mandatory training, supervision, and professional development to maintain fidelity and skill growth.

Prevention & Education

? Deliver empowerment-based prevention education aligned with NJCAP and NJ4S goals. ? Promote understanding of child abuse prevention, trauma-informed practices, and protective factors across schools and community settings.

? Provide resources, referrals, and follow-up support to students, caregivers, and educators as needed.

Community Engagement & Outreach

? Represent NJ4S at community events, outreach activities, and Tier 1 initiatives to promote child abuse prevention awareness.

? Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools, community agencies, and local coalitions.

? Support schoolwide prevention campaigns and community engagement opportunities that foster awareness and student empowerment.

Program Coordination & Data Management

? Maintain accurate records of workshops, attendance, disclosures, and evaluations per NJCAP and CFS standards.

? Track data to identify service trends and gaps, informing program evaluation and quality improvement.

? Communicate regularly with NJCAP/NJ4S coordinators, school partners, and team members to ensure program alignment.

? Support logistics for Tier 1 prevention events, including space setup, materials, and team coordination.

Cultural Competency & Youth-Centered Approach

? Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural, developmental, and emotional needs of students. ? Use strengths-based and inclusive language when interacting with youth and families. ? Promote equity, wellness, and youth voice in all aspects of programming.

Organization & Professionalism

? Manage a consistent schedule of school visits and programming across multiple sites. ? Prioritize competing tasks while meeting required deadlines and expectations. ? Represent the NJ4S program and Center for Family Services with professionalism and integrity at all times.

? Maintains appropriate professional and ethical boundaries, a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect for cultural factors.

Qualifications

? High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)

? Experience working with children or in educational or youth-serving settings ? Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

? Comfort discussing sensitive topics such as bullying, abuse prevention, and empowerment ? Reliable transportation to schools and community locations within Camden County ? Flexible schedule, including school-day availability and occasional evening events ? Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting

PREFERRED:

? Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or related field ? Bilingual (Spanish/English or another language common in Camden County) ? Familiarity with child protection, violence prevention, or empowerment-based curricula
