Position Summary: 

The primary goal of the hospital-linked violence intervention program is to promote healing and to reduce retaliation, re-injury and criminal justice contact by working directly with victims of violence (gunshot wounds and stabbings) treated at Cooper Hospital. The HLVIP Supervisor provides program management including supervision of staff in carrying out direct service activities pertinent to the goals of the program. This key staff member manages the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of staff. The HLVIP Supervisor will work directly with hospital staff to coordinate program activities and ensure service delivery follows grant and program procedures. The HLVIP Supervisor will assist in Hospital Responses and provide minimal direct service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and provides culturally competent participant care and staff interactions that respond respectfully to the strengths and skills of diverse ethnicities and cultures, languages, socio-economic classes, disabilities, religions, genders, sexual orientation and other diversity related factors; 

  • Ensure service delivery and documentation compliance in accordance with Grant and CFS COA standards and written agreements and contracts;

  • May provide direct service activity as needed;

  • Uses data to leverage strengths along program areas, manage programs and products and to alter course of action when indicated;

  • Coordinates program activities with appropriate liaison and partnering agencies to ensure constructive collaboration;

  • Provides program service and administrative supervision of program staff, students and volunteers;

  • Assures the continuing training and development of program staff;

  • Regularly schedules meetings with program staff to discuss plans, address areas of potential problems and program functioning;

  • Develops and promotes relationships with other social service agencies and represents the program and agency in the community;

  • Performs administrative functions including the completion of regular reports in a timely manner as required by funding sources and the Agency;

  • Meets regularly with supervisor, and participates in agency collaboration team meetings;

  • Contributes on Agency committees and special tasks, promotes a sense of agency with co-workers and staff, and communicates in ways that support agency mission and values;

  • Perform specialized activities and functions specific to program. See Program-Specific Responsibilities;

  • Adhere to policies and procedures of CFS.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field, preferred or equivalent experience;

  • At least 3 years' experience working with individuals at-risk or involved in violence;

  • A minimum of 5 years care coordination experience and supervisory experience combined; 

  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred; 

  • Must be living within 45 minutes from Cooper University Hospital; 

  • Must be culturally appropriate by living and having knowledge of communities in Southern New Jersey specifically those communities with high rates of violence including Camden City;

  • Knowledge of urban issues, specifically violence;

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with participants, staff, vendors, and the public; 

  • Ability to listen to and respect others and to embrace diversity in all others: shows culture awareness and has a highly functional understanding of and appreciation for developing and accessing culturally responsive services and supports for individuals and families; 

  • Must be able to present self and the program in a professional manner; 

  • Ability to work in stressful situations

  • Proactive, and demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and willingness to try new approaches; 

  • Basic Computer Skills;

  • Clearly communicate ideas in both written and verbal form;

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends (on-call); 

  • Individuals with personal experience in overcoming violence/incarceration/violence-related injuries/ gang involvement/the criminal justice system are encouraged to apply. However, should have a minimum of 2 years since their release from incarceration. 

  • No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, child abuse or domestic violence;

  • Valid driver's license in the state of his/her residence, insurance, and clean driving record.
