Position Status: Full Time

Salary: $55,000 per year

Position Summary:

The Head Start Family Resource Coordinator provides community based and in-home case management, assessment and coordination of resources, and life skills education and counseling to Head Start families, as part of the early intervention program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with the family as referred by the Family Service Advocate or Disability Manager, to provide comprehensive needs assessment and coordinate access to resources to address identified needs.
  • Identify family service needs and available resources,
  • Help families schedule, access and follow up with primary care, dental and other community health services as needed, especially developmental pediatricians when needed.
  • Works collaboratively with the advocate to achieve identified goals and ensure successful utilization of resources.
  • Support families to promote and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Maintain knowledge of ERSEA Eligibility and recruitment and attendance standards, and be prepared to periodically support enrollment and recruitment as needed.
  • Provides the necessary in-home supports, as needed, to meet the family objectives, which may include a) parenting skills, b) household management, c) budgeting, d) arranging medical appointments, e) arranging counseling, f) providing in-home supportive services, g) transportation, as a last resort for the family, h) referrals to other services,and i) other services with the approval of supervisor.
  • Meet with the supervisor to review cases and progress notes.
  • Attend all staff meetings, and training as approved by the supervisor.
  • Attends mental health consultation and observation meetings as requested.
  • Participates in professional development workshops to increase knowledge, and incorporate new developments into practice when appropriate. All CFS in-service training is mandatory for staff.
  • Confers with colleagues when appropriate.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree or Bachelor's degree in related field
  • At least two years of experience working with program population, preferred experience in an early childhood learning environment.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License in the state of his/her residence if job is classified as Occasional or Essential driving
  • Must have and maintain automobile insurance if driving a personal vehicle

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Head Start performance standards
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral direction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the service community.
  • Ability to complete documents such as attendance sheets and incident reports using accepted grammatical and spelling standards
  • Ability to complete progress notes according to the program's requirements and maintain case files
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to read and respond to email in a professional manner
