Position Summary: 

Center For Family Services is seeking a dedicated Housing Resource Specialist for the Keeping Families Together program. The Housing Resource Specialist provides direct services to a caseload of 16-17 families utilizing the Keeping Families Together program model. This individual provides in-home case management services to meet the family's housing goals and needs. These goals may include; budgeting, household management, connecting the families to utility assistance, communication skills, child development, basic budgeting, and establishing daily routines. Will provide linkage to community resources which can include; child care, educational needs, food banks, WIC, OEO, etc. Completes necessary paperwork within outlined time requirements and in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Housing Resource Specialist provides monthly residence inspections to ensure home safety and cleanliness, reviews monthly financial commitments, acts as the direct liaison between KFT families and the landlord/management company, and completes all required programmatic paperwork thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.  This individual maintains open communication with DCA in regards to each family's continued qualification for the on-going housing voucher and financial eligibility and identifies a plan to set tenant up for success with following the terms of their lease, maintaining their home, and fulfilling their financial commitments.  The Housing Resource Specialist empowers and demonstrates for families how to advocate for themselves to improve self-sufficiency and teaches budgeting skills and money management to further financial stability. This individual meets regularly with supervisor for individual and group supervision for case review, staff and program development, and participates in other continuing professional development opportunities. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or equivalent degree
  • At least two years of experience working with at-risk families
  • Experience with teaching budgets, management skills, and proficient in financial and income
  • assessments
  • Experience Preferred: Case Management, Experience with Housing (working with landlords, housing vouchers, etc.)
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
