Job Type/Status: On Call (13 hours/week)
POSITION SUMMARY:The On-Call Peer Support Specialist provides as-needed support to individuals during behavioral health crises. Relying on their own lived experience of recovery, the Peer offers compassionate engagement, emotional support, and practical guidance to help individuals navigate next steps. On-call staff are contacted when additional coverage is needed due to increased demand or scheduled staff absence.
This position includes a weekly on-call commitment of up to 13 hours per week, which may include evenings, weekends, and holiday coverage as scheduled.Duties and Responsibilities:
Remain available during scheduled on-call shifts to respond to community-based crises.
Partner with the CCRT team to provide de-escalation and peer-based support.
Share lived experience to offer hope, reduce stigma, and promote recovery.
Assist individuals with accessing services and making informed decisions about care.
Support harm reduction and client-centered approaches.
Document services provided and communicate status updates to team leads.
Participate in required training and supervision activities.
Adhere to Center For Family Services and CCRT policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
Must be able to travel within Camden and surrounding areas.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or similar credential, or willingness to complete certification within 6 months.
Lived experience with recovery from mental health conditions, substance use, homelessness, or system involvement required.
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working in the community.
Ability to manage boundaries, confidentiality, and self-care in high-stress situations.
Must be able to work a flexible part-time schedule.
Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and a clean driving record.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
