Program Summary:
The Exchange Parent Aide (EPA) intervention is an evidence-supported service model forming part of a comprehensive, statewide family support services continuum that will provide supportive and educational in-home services for parents/caregivers. The EPA will provide parents/caregivers with individualized family support, effective parenting skills and strategies, and teach them about enhanced social connections, social-emotional competency, child safety, and child development.
Position Summary:
The Program Supervisor will play an important role in supporting and enhancing our EPA Program including the focus on delivering direct services to families in need. Core responsibilities include overseeing a team of Parent Aides and a Care Manager and ensuring seamless EPA program operations. The Program Supervisor will provide reflective supervision to support the professional development and well-being of our Parent Aides and Care Manager. In addition, the role will involve cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for the agency. By leveraging their expertise in program management and dedication to supporting families and team members alike, they will contribute significantly to the success and impact of the EPA in-home parenting support initiatives. This role reports to the program director.
Job Responsibilities
Support Parent Aide Program
Team with the Office of Family Preservation and Reunification Services (FPR) and other DCF offices as needed to develop and implement EPA program policies and procedures;
Coordinate EPA program activities and ensure adherence to program goals and objectives as stated within the Standards of Operation and Practice;
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse array of community programs, including Division of Child Permanency and Protection (DCP&P) to effectively meet the varied needs of the program and families;
Monitor EPA program outcomes and evaluate effectiveness through data collection and analysis;
Represent the agency in community meetings, advisory councils/boards and on interagency teams as directed;
Other duties as assigned.
Oversee Parent Aides and Care Manager
Recruit, hire, and train Parent Aides and Care Manager;
Facilitate ongoing reflective supervision, coaching, and support to Parent Aides and Care Manager to ensure quality service delivery and opportunities for professional growth;
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback;
Foster a collaborative team environment among Parent Aides and Care Manager;
Offer specialized support and mentorship to employees who have personal experience with the challenges faced by program participants;
Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
Provide Direct Service to Families
Review initial referrals to understand family background, needs and specific reasons for referral;
Assign Parent Aide based on best match for the family;
In collaboration with the Parent Aide and Care Manager, conduct intake assessment to determine family needs and goals which informs the development of the individualized service plans in collaboration with families;
Provide coverage as needed for Parent Aides and Care Managers.
Documentation and Reporting
Complete required documentation, forms, and produce statistical reports;
Maintain an accurate account of all referrals;
Use agency's online data management system for all documentation;
Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities to enhance service delivery.
Development of Professional Self
Facilitate weekly team consultation meetings;
Facilitate individual supervision weekly with each staff member;
Consult with the program director about activities at least once per week;
Participate in meetings, activities and trainings as mandated by the agency and Department of Children & Families;
Review performance data to identify needed areas for improvement;
Work with program director to complete professional development plans and performance reviews;
Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Early Childhood or the equivalent of five years related experience within the child welfare system providing case management, home visiting, mental health experience or work with at-risk families.
Two years direct staff supervisory experience in the social service field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preference for fluency in speaking, reading, writing Spanish;
Organizational skills with the ability to manage supervision of numerous staff simultaneously.
Solid understanding of family dynamics, child development, and social services delivery.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective problem-solving skills, including the identification and communication of problems and/or issues with appropriate team and management staff.
Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations.
Knowledge of resources and/or services in the community for the target population.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to inclusion, equity, and diversity principles.
Ability to maintain a flexible workweek, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
Valid driver's license and vehicle in good working condition;
Automobile liability insurance that meets minimum agency requirements;
Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check, including no history of DUI violations, required;
Familiarity with Word, G-mail and Internet, Excel;
Must live in designated service area.
Typical Physical Demands
Use of office equipment, such as computers, calculators, fax and copiers;
Ability to perform a range of physical motions, including but not limited to: sitting for long periods of time; standing; walking; and climbing stairs.
Typical Working Conditions
Requires working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
Work is often performed in client homes;
Requires extensive travel to client homes and throughout the community;
Involves exposure to tobacco smoke, domestic animals, household pests, and other conditions common to domestic environments;
Frequent contact with staff and non-staff (e.g., client families, referring agencies, community professionals, community agencies/programs).
