POSITION SUMMARY:

The Residential Training Specialist will develop, implement and improve upon a direct care training program for residential staff and managers.  This position will include assisting with the onboarding training and continuous hands on support to direct care staff in the CFS residential programs.  This position will vary in hours based upon the needs of the agency programs.  Travel will be expected so that the training can occur in the actual programs and allow for direct assistance and oversight of the staff training.  The Training Specialist is expected to work alongside the administration of the program to ensure that all direct care staff understand and can implement agency policies and procedures, in accordance with the applicable Manual of Standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Program Directors to schedule and communicate training with all newly hired residential direct care staff.

  • Trainings will include but are not limited to: Policy and Procedures, Documentation, CFS ticket system and procedures, Staff schedules, Shift procedures & coverage, Call out policy, Intakes, Discharges, Medication administration, AWARDS/EHR, Incident reporting, Mandated reporting, Crisis de-escalation/Handle With Care, Youth engagement, Bed Check, Maintaining Boundaries and Professionalism, Group facilitation, Customer service, Vehicle protocols, and recreation expectations.

  •  Report to all training at least 15 minutes prior to the start time prepared to facilitate required training.  This includes having the appropriate paperwork and documentation available and ready to present.  Ensuring all staff have signed in and submitted acknowledgements forms at the end of every training. 

  • Ability to quickly adapt to various residential locations; as assigned by the AVP.

  • Continuously meet with Program Directors and staff for feedback on needed assistance and training.  Find out what is working well in the homes so that best practices can be duplicated throughout the continuum. 

  • Motivate and introduce direct care staff to new therapeutic milieu activities and techniques in conjunction specific to youth  and/or site goals. 

  • Submit a monthly schedule of planned trainings per site to the AVP. 

  • Attend staff meetings at various programs and Director meetings as assigned by AVP.

  • Submit a monthly summary of the number of trainings conducted, number of staff in attendance and sites trained by the 5th of the next month.

  • Report any facility concerns or physical site needs to the program director and AVP.

  • Remain in compliance with agency mandated and assigned Relias trainings.

  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • HS diploma or GED with 3 years' experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency  and/or community-based setting. 

  • BA with 2 years' experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency and/or community-based  setting. 

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
