Position Summary:

Center For Family Services is seeking an experienced education professional for it's Teacher's Assistant position within our Juntos Program located in Voorhees, NJ. The Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher with the daily operations of planning, carrying out classroom activities and maintaining the classroom environment. The Assistant Teacher may all assist in planning, record keeping and other classroom related duties.  Juntos provides important services to unaccompanied minor children who immigrated into the United States. Services include; temporary shelter and support with family unification and home study and post release services.  Family Reunification is the Junto's program primary goal.  Bilingual/Multilingual preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to;

  • Provides leadership to staff and promotes a sense of agency with co-workers.  
  • Helps copy necessary worksheets for instruction, prepares bulletin boards, performs clerical and non-instructional assignments as assigned, helps keep the classroom clean and organized and assists teacher with home visits and conferences.
  • Regularly meets with direct supervisor, to reviews progress in professional development and growth objectives and discusses any issues only with designated appropriate staff.  
  • Reports any suspected child abuse and neglect per New Jersey's Child Protective Services' guidelines.
  • Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and the specific needs of each child
  • Collaborates with teachers to monitor the development of each child
  • Understand the teacher's routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day
  • Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development
  • Communicate with case managers and clinicians to keep them informed about their assigned youth's development and any changes to the regular day-to-day schedule.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills
  • Has Compassionate attitude and strong understanding of child development
  • Utilizes a nurturing teaching approach

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in ECE or related field is preferred
  • 1 year experience working with youth in a classroom setting
  • Maintains First Aid and CPR certification 
  • Must have a paraprofessional certification
