Position Summary
The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for planning daily meals, wellness activities, social activities and social outings for members. Members of the Better Future Self Help Center are mental health consumers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a program of wellness education and wellness activities for BFSHC consumers. This will include, for example:
- Scheduling trips, arranging trips and working with Center drivers to insure transportation for trips
- Arranging for exercise opportunities
- Arranging for educational opportunities on topics such as stress management, physical health and wellness, etc.
- Insures that nutritious meals are provided for consumers at the Center according to the monthly schedule. This will include, for example:
- Insuring that all meals are planned each month and shopping lists for food are generated
- Insuring that food shopping is done
- Insuring that meal preparation is done, including supervising and assisting consumers who are cooking meals, and also cooking meals as needed
- Insuring that clean-up after meals is completed to include:
- Having dishes, flatware, pots, pans, serving utensils, glasses, cups, and other items used for meal preparation or consumption washed thoroughly
- Having all counter, stove, oven and microwave surfaces thoroughly cleaned
- Having all spills on floor, walls and elsewhere cleaned up
- Responsible to provide clean-up as needed
- Coordinates his/her work with the BFSHC Manager and with consumer Facilitators, drivers, other employees, volunteers and other BFSHC consumers as needed.
- Provides back-up for the BFSHC Manager as needed.
- Treat all consumers with respect and dignity.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Follow agency policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Mental health consumer (either current or past consumer) with experience in the mental health field and/or peer support or other consumer-oriented training programs;
- Good communication/interpersonal skills;
- Leadership abilities;
- Ability to work collaboratively with others;
- Good driving record and licensed to drive in N.J.
