Position Summary:

The youth development specialist is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the School Based Youth Services recreational program with the Warren Hills high school. The youth development specialist is responsible for implementing the WHYPC program with the Peer Leader classes to educate youth in elementary schools on a variety of prevention and wellness topics. The youth development specialist is also responsible for the execution of an evidenced-based curriculum that runs through the school year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recreation area during lunches and after school while engaging with students
  • Provide services such as homework assistance, enrichment activities, and snack preparation
  • Complete a monthly activity calendar
  • Plan and execute monthly recreation trips in partnership with the youth development specialist at the middle school
  • Provide transportation to offsite recreational activities
  • Plan and facilitate family engagement activities
  • Maintain the program's bulletin board within the school
  • Manage high school site supply budget
  • Maintain strong working relationships and collaborations with district staff to promote School Based Youth Services, WHYPC and evidenced-based curriculum
  • Schedule, organize and implement an evidenced-based program for Warren Hills' students in coordination with teachers Work with Peer Leader students and their teacher to create, review, and implement Power Point presentations for WHYPC
  • Complete quarterly reporting information on WHYPC program for submission to the county
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or Associate Degree with documentation of at least 3 years full-time experience as a youth service worker
  • Driver's license and ability to drive 12 passenger van
  • Interpersonal skills and writing skills
