Salary: $25 per hour

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator for the Nourished Neighbors Food Program supports the Director in the daily operations and coordination of Center For Family Services' food access and nutrition initiatives. This position assists with program implementation, food distribution activities, data tracking, scheduling, and community outreach to ensure efficient and equitable access to nutritious food for families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. The Program Coordinator works closely with program staff, volunteers, and community partners to support food pantry operations, mobile distributions, and other program services. This role helps maintain program organization, compliance, and high-quality service delivery while advancing the agency's mission to strengthen families and communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Operations & Coordination

  • Assist the Director with daily operations of the Nourished Neighbors Food Program.
  • Support coordination of food pantry services, mobile food distributions, and special events.
  • Help ensure food is organized, stored, and distributed safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with maintaining program schedules and distribution calendars.

    Food Distribution Support

    • Assist with receiving, organizing, and preparing food for distribution.
    • Coordinate distribution logistics with drivers, volunteers, and staff.
    • Ensure families receive services in a respectful and supportive manner.
    • Help maintain inventory of food and supplies.

    Community Engagement & Outreach

    • Support outreach efforts to increase awareness of program services.
    • Assist with connecting families to additional community resources when appropriate.
    • Represent the program at community events or partner meetings when needed.

    Data Tracking & Reporting

    • Assist with collecting and entering program data and service records.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of program participation and services.
    • Support preparation of reports required for program monitoring and funding.

    Administrative Support

    • Assist the Director with scheduling, coordination, and communication with staff and partners.
    • Help maintain organized program files and documentation.
    • Support volunteer coordination and scheduling as needed.

    Compliance & Safety

    • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines.
    • Ensure adherence to agency policies and program procedures.
    • Report operational concerns to the Director promptly.

    Working Conditions

    • Ability to bend, lift, walk, and carry up to approximately 40 pounds as required for food distribution and program activities.
    • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours.
    • Expected to work days, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed to support food distribution events and community activities.

    Licenses/Certifications

    NJ Food Handler/Prep Manager certification preferred or ability to obtain.

    Qualifications

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social services, public health, nutrition, community development, or at least 3 years’ experience in the food services field.
    • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in community programs, food distribution, nonprofit services, or related field.
    • Knowledge of food insecurity issues and community resource networks preferred.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and support program logistics.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data tracking systems.
