Program Summary:

The Latino Outreach Advocate is responsible for the support services, case management of victim services as well as presenting bilingual educational programs to the community. The Latinx Outreach Advocate reports directly to the Outreach Supervisor.

Job Type/Status: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between SERV and the Latinx community, organizations and community resources
  • Market the SERV program to the Latinx Community, through outreach, development of outreach materials written in Spanish and with community development
  • Present educational programs in Spanish, when required, in schools, community centers, church groups, etc., and Sensitivity Training programs to personnel at hospitals, police departments and social agencies in the community
  • Provide crisis-intervention and counseling to victims, family members and significant others. Provide appropriate referrals for victims
  • Accompany victims through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide victims with case-related medical and legal information
  • Coordinate and facilitate support group services for survivors of sexual violence
  • Provide coverage for the 24-hour hotline
  • Maintain victim case files, following state and agency guidelines
  • Complete monthly and quarterly statistics and narrative reports
  • Participate in community collaboration meetings and the SERV Prevention Coalition
  • Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program


  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services is preferred. 
  • Experience may substitute for education on a year to year basis.
  • Must have a certificate in New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate (CSVA), Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) and Anti-Human Trafficking training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV). 
  • Must demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong personal skills. 
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of the individuals we serve and the needs of non-English speaking victims. 
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with partners, community groups, and other service organizations. 
  • Must have experience working with people, especially on a one-to-one basis, and demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of victims.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
