Position Summary: 

Assumes overall responsibility for the Together Shelter Program. Provides administrative responsibilities, program development, and participates in the management team of the agency. Ensures 24/7 coverage of the program according to DCF Office of Licensing Regulations. Provides supervision of direct care / resident counselors and day to day operations of facilities in residential counseling services, and may perform specialized activities and functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support and supervision of program staff, students and volunteers, including completing staff evaluations.
  • Conducts job interviews and assist with interview process for prospective employees and has direct input into hiring decisions.
  • Gives direct feedback to staff including verbal and written warnings as approved by the Associate Vice President. Also gives recommendations on discipline including terminations when approved by the CEO.
  • May provide direct counseling and other direct service activity, as back up to residential staff.
  • Assures the continuing training and development of program staff.
  • Regularly schedules meetings with program staff to discuss plans, progress, and address areas of potential concerns and program functioning.
  • Coordinates program activities with appropriate liaison agencies to ensure constructive collaboration.
  • Develops and promotes relationships with other social service agencies and may represent the program and agency in the community.
  • Performs administrative functions including the completion of regular reports in a timely manner as required by funding sources and the Agency,
  • May serve on Agency-wide committees.
  • Provides leadership to staff, and promotes a sense of agency with co-workers and staff, and communicates in ways that support agency mission and values.
  • Ensures appropriate 24-hour shift coverage and assists as necessary with youth supervision in emergency situations.
  • Reviews resident files and provides case management assistance to counseling staff. Makes recommendations regarding quality or procedures in treatment.
  • Submits required reports in an appropriate, professional, and timely manner.
  • Assists in design and implementation of counselor training and staff development plans.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining positive relationships with other community agencies.
  • Assists in ensuring program compliance with all licensing and contractual standards.
  • Attends trainings and conferences as required.
  • Provides on-call supervision, assistance and instruction to deal with administrative, treatment, or scheduling emergencies.
  • Completes progress and incident reports, progress note, and statistical reports as required.
  • Directs or is responsible for ensuring maintenance of the facility and vehicles are following licensing requirements. Submit work orders as needed.
  •  Performs periodic checks of shift compliance during off hours including night and weekends to ensure quality of care delivered and that Agency policies and procedures are followed. (2 per month minimum)
  • Is responsible for overall Licensing requirements and local fire and safety requirements and general professional appearance of building.
  •  Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA in human services 
  • At least three years experience working with program population, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Program Administration experience
  • Management experience and excellent writing experience preferred
