About Family Preservation:
Family Preservation Services (FPS) is an intensive, in-home, four to eight week crisis intervention program for families referred by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). The goal of Family Preservation Services is to prevent out-of-home placement and to promote stabilization and successful reunification. The program strives to keep families together through in-home counseling and support services.
Center for Family Services is seeking a Full Time Bilingual (Spanish/English) Outreach worker for the Family Preservation Services Program. The Outreach Worker will work with families and the DCP&P to promote stabilization and successful reunification using the NJ FPS Model Standards, including crisis intervention, counseling, skill building, concrete services, and advocacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure service delivery is consistent with the NJ FPS Model Standards
to all staffs components in the NJ FPS Model Standards
families whose children are at imminent risk of placement or who are in
placement and cannot be reunified without intensive in-home services
services primarily in client homes. Travel to client homes and other locations
sessions at times that are convenient for families, and when problems are
likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Maintain a flexible
referrals 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Schedule and complete client intake
sessions within 24 hours of referral
available to client families 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Obtain coverage
by supervisor or supervisor's designee if unavailable for an extended period of
time (e.g., 12 hours or longer)
back-up for other staff as needed
serve 18 families per year, working with approximately 2 families at a time
in weekly team consultation meetings;
with the supervisor about every family at least once per week
NJ FPS Model guidelines regarding consulting with supervisor
safety, structure the environment and use best practice strategies designed to
a range of skill-building, concrete and advocacy services to family members
that are consistent with the NJ FPS Model and the family's values, learning
styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture
and maintain a positive, collegiate working relationship with family members;
responsibility for motivating families and employ motivation enhancement strategies
comprehensive, strength-focused assessment process
with family members and DCP&P in developing intervention goals and service
research-based cognitive/behavioral strategies to facilitate behavior change
a variety of teaching methods

directly related to the family's goals, while teaching family members to meet
these needs on their own

degree in human services or related field; OR Bachelor degree in human services
or related field and at least two years' experience working with families
