Summary:  

Center For Family Services is looking for a responsible and organized individual to fill the Client Advocate Position in the Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) program. SERV provides crisis intervention, counseling, and support to survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The program provides personalized care to help people follow a path to healing.

Location: Gloucester County, NJ

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Client Advocate provides crisis-intervention and counseling to victims, family members, and significant others. This individual accompanies victims through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. The SV Advocate Coordinator provide guidance and supervision to staff while assisting with providing victims with case-related medical and legal information, appropriate referrals, and maintains victim case files, following state and agency guidelines.  In addition, the SV Advocate presents educational programs in schools, community and church groups, and other professional organizations and assists with additional outreach efforts and attend scheduled events. The SV Advocate also assists with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program, completes monthly and quarterly statistics and reports, and provides coverage for the 24-hour hotline.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree/ work experience may be substituted for education on a year to year basis
  • Experience working with people, especially on a one to one basis
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of the victims
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Public Speaking is required
  • Must complete 40 hours of the New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocacy Training provided by SERV
  • Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
