Center for Family Services is seeking a compassionate and creative Counselor for the Keeping Families Together program. The Counselor provides direct services to a caseload of 12-15 families affected by substance use, utilizing the KFT model through in-home counseling as well as through peer groups designed to educate and empower families. This individual uses a behavioral/cognitive approach and builds on family strengths to teach and model skills designed to improve family functioning in the areas of parenting, communication, and anger/crisis management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Counselor establishes a trusting relationship with at risk families by initiating and maintaining regular client contact. This individual works nights and weekends when necessary and is available 24/7 to meet the needs of assigned families. The Counselor participates in establishing a Family Care plan with goals, objectives, and activities, facilitates peer groups to educate and empower families, demonstrates for families how to advocate for themselves and their children, and collects and documents program intervention data and program activities. This individual works cooperatively with staff from CP&P and other community agencies, participates in ongoing training provided by CP&P, DCF and CSH, conducts quarterly follow-ups with families to determine success of KFT intervention, and completes all necessary paperwork in a timely basis and a professional manner.
