Center for Family Services is seeking experienced and professional individuals for Full-Time Peer Specialists positions in the Opioid Overdose Recovery Program (OORP). Our Opioid Overdose Recovery Program, offers connections and assistance to individuals treated with Narcan (Naloxone) as a result of an opioid overdose. The goal of the OORP is to help people stay engaged in recovery. A Peer Specialist must have at least 2 years of personal recovery experience and utilize the "many pathways to recovery" theory of care. Peer Specialists must be comfortable working with hospital staff in a fast paced environment and with using electronic record keeping for documentation. This is a full time position.
Location: Camden, NJ
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Peer Specialists work in a hospital emergency room setting, offering connections and assistance to individuals with substance use issues. They follow up with clients upon discharge from the hospital with phone calls and supportive services for at least 8 weeks and keep proper documentation of all client encounters. They link individuals interested in recovery and their family members to treatment and recovery services. Peer Specialists provides education to members of the community on overdose, prevention, and on obtaining Naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose when administered.
High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's Degree Preferred)
At least 2 years of personal recovery experience
Current driver's license and good driving record of 3 years
Vehicle with current insurance and registration
All positions require pre-employment drug screening and criminal record checks. Many positions require motor vehicle record evaluations and medical clearances.
