Headquartered in Camden City, New Jersey, Center for Family Services offers specialized services in the following key areas: early childhood, supportive housing, homeless prevention, family support, workforce development, grief and traumatic loss, and several crisis hotlines.

In 2020, Center for Family Services was awarded a 5-year implementation grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services to implement the Fatherhood Family-Focused, Interconnected, Resilient, and Essential demonstration grant to establish the Framing Fatherhood program in Camden City. The target population for this initiative is adult fathers (ages 18 and older) with children ages 24 and younger. Through Framing Fatherhood, fathers in Camden will have access to an array of services designed to promote or sustain healthy marriage and relationships, strengthen positive father-child engagement, and improve employment and economic stability. Center For Family Services will build on existing partnerships to support the design, implementation, and evaluation of Framing Fatherhood.

Position Summary

The Program Outreach and Retention Specialist will be responsible for conducting outreach, marketing and communications, recruitment and retention of participants, planning special events and recognition activities, resource development, volunteer placement and the planning of ongoing activities to support fathers and help them identify and reduce barriers and increase strategies to support them as effective fathers and role models.

Reports to: AVP, Development & Public Relations

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual outreach and recruitment plan, coordinated with the Program Manager
  • Support program staff with consistent messaging and talking points to best communicate the goals of Framing Fatherhood;
  • Manage and implement participant recruitment and outreach activities in partnership with staff, and current and potential community partners
  • Maintain statistics on participant recruitment efforts
  • Maintain a process that ensures recruitment events lead to participate intakes
  • Secure and plan presentations and representing program at events
  • Disseminate program information in response to all participant and partner inquiries
  • Utilize the Adobe Creative Suite to create marketing materials including posters, brochures, flyers, social media images, etc. with consistent branding and messaging
  • Establish consistent messaging across various media
  • Work with printer to order materials/ track orders; submit invoices
  • Lead outreach efforts and distribution of recruitment posters/flyers
  • Assist in the creation of website content
  • Develop and implement social media strategy via the Camden Promise Neighborhood social media channels to increase participate engagement
  • Work in partnership with other Center For Family Services Camden City programs to support and increase program participation Draft program success stories and share across media channels
  • Utilize photography to highlight services and share stories of success
  • Prepare press releases for organizational events, program recruitment, accomplishments
  • Create and distribute various communications and publications to participants
  • Attend meetings, trainings and conferences that contribute to personal development and the growth and improvement of the Framing Fatherhood initiative
  • Engage in regular supervision meetings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, human services, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in a nonprofit organization with an emphasis on community outreach, volunteer recruitment, marketing, community and public relations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to large and diverse audiences under various circumstances.
  • Ability to multi-task, possession of excellent time management/organizational skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
