Position Summary:

The NJ4S program at the Center for Family Services is seeking a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) to support substance use prevention efforts across all tier levels within Camden County schools and communities. The LCADC will develop and implement prevention programs, provide education, early intervention, and support services to youth and families, and collaborate with school staff, community organizations, and stakeholders to reduce substance use and promote healthy decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct brief screenings and assessments to determine substance use risk and intervention needs. 

  • Provide one-on-one short-term counseling and motivational interviewing to youth struggling with substance use and mental health. 

  • Connect students and families to treatment services and recovery support as needed.

  • Work closely with mental health professionals and case managers to coordinate wraparound services for high-risk youth. 

  • Develop and deliver evidence-based substance use prevention education and awareness programs. 

  • Conduct workshops, presentations, and community outreach events to promote substance-free lifestyles. 

  • Implement community campaigns like Red Ribbon Week to engage the community in drug prevention initiatives. 

  • Identify and provide early intervention services for students at risk of substance use. 

  • Facilitate small group sessions focusing on substance use risk factors, coping skills, and peer influence. 

  • Partner with school counselors and social workers to provide targeted support and referrals for students and families. 

  • Provide education and support to parents/guardians on substance use trends and prevention strategies. 

  • Maintains professional growth and development throughout the year by attending workshops and training that will aid in providing superior clinical services. 

  • Stay current on emerging drug trends, prevention strategies, and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports in compliance with program and grant requirements. 

  • Attend training and professional development opportunities related to substance use prevention. 

  • Actively engage with community stakeholders to build strong partnerships for substance use prevention efforts. 

  • Support the overall mission of NJ4S by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address youth wellness. 


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Licensure: Valid Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LCDAC) in New Jersey is required. 

  • Education: Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, public health, or a related field required. 

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance use prevention, intervention, or counseling with youth and families. 

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of adolescent development, risk and protective factors, and evidence-based prevention programs. 

Skills: 
    • Ability to engage with diverse youth populations in school and community settings. ? Strong facilitation and public speaking skills. 

    • Proficiency in case documentation and data reporting. 

    • Experience with Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed approaches is preferred. 

    • Spanish language fluency and the ability to conduct job duties in both 

    • English and Spanish are strongly preferred but not mandatory.
