Position Summary:
The Outreach Advocate of the CFS, Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) provides direct support to program operation, focusing on providing assertive outreach, relationship building in the community, providing trainings, and advocating for survivors of violent crime. This role assists in the identification, engagement, and facilitation of community resources, as well as providing advocacy and on-going support to participants during the process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes and provides cultural humility client care and staff interactions that respond respectfully to the strengths and skills of diverse ethnicities and cultures, languages, socio-economic classes, disabilities, religions, genders, sexual orientation, and other diversity-related factors.
- Provide psychosocial education on trauma response to educate clients on the importance of symptom monitoring, validate client experiences, and normalize trauma symptoms.
- Conduct intakes for clients and make connections to appropriate resources to meet clients' needs (e.g., TRC psychologists, DV organizations).
- In collaboration with the client, complete a needs assessment to develop goals and treatment plan. This will be reviewed with the client to assess progress.
- Facilitates coordination of services among various agencies, advocates for and links clients to needed services.
- Complete documentation and other reporting requirements as per the grant.
- Participate in staff training that may include Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Crisis Intervention and other trauma informed trainings as needed.
- Participate in supervision meetings and TRC trainings and meetings.
- Demonstrate fair and respectful treatment of all clients from various cultures, races and ethnicities; open communication; integrity and ethics; protect confidentiality and privacy.
- Complete Level of Service as identified in the contract.
- Meet with clients in the hospital directly following intentional trauma to provide emotional support and connect client with the TRC team during hospitalization, or schedule TRC intake appointment with client.
- Provide intensive outreach efforts by conducting visits (i.e. community or home visit as needed) to establish relationships with clients and provide informal emotional support and encouragement.
- Provide informal counseling, education, accompaniment, and social support to assist clients with gaining access to continuous care and enabling services.
- Share information and resources, collaborate on initiatives and provide education to referral sources and community agencies in order to coordinate access to services.
- Provide community presentations and workshops.
- Assists clients to apply for social security disability, Victims of Crime Compensation, and other financial entitlements. Assistance with U-Visas and psychological asylum as needed.
- Assist TRC team as needed and performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- HS diploma/GED, AA or BA preferred.
- Knowledge in the area of trauma informed care, adverse childhood experiences.
- Knowledge of urban settings, Camden City preferred.
- Experience providing outreach and case management.
- Clearly communicate ideas in both written and verbal form.
- Ability to connect with people of varying backgrounds, appreciate and embrace diversity, and maintain confidentiality. Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations, including young people of color, people who are homeless and/or chronically mentally ill, people from immigrant and refugee groups, and LGBTQ people.
- Ability to work independently combined with the ability to be a team player.
- Excellent documentation skills, ability to set priorities, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines.
- Possess strong organizational skills and personal skills.
- Demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy.
- Willing to work in a flexible and hybrid environment - office, telehealth, school and community settings.
- Work a flexible schedule including evenings and may include some Saturdays.
- Valid driver's license in the state of his/her residence, insurance, and clean driving record.
- People of color and people from marginalized communities are encouraged to apply. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
