The Opportunity

Center For Family Services is seeking an accomplished, mission-driven executive to serve as its next Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned administrative leader to help shape the operational backbone of one of the region's leading nonprofit human services organizations-and to do so in direct service of a mission that matters.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the CAO will provide strategic and day-to-day oversight of the organization's core administrative infrastructure. The CAO carries direct responsibility for Information Technology, Facilities, Quality Improvement, Data Management, Billing, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Beyond those direct areas, the CAO is expected to serve as an integrating force across the full administrative enterprise ensuring that all functions operate in concert with each other and in alignment with the organization's strategic direction.

About Center For Family Services

Center For Family Services is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to building stronger families and healthier communities. Through a broad continuum of programs and services, we meet individuals and families where they are-providing compassionate, high-quality care rooted in dignity and respect. Our teams work every day to create meaningful change in the lives of those we serve, and we are committed to building an organization that is as strong internally as it is impactful externally.

The Role

The CAO is a strategic partner to the CEO and a trusted peer to organizational leaders across the agency. At Center for Family Services, this means going beyond traditional administrative management to become a champion for operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.

The CAO will lead efforts to strengthen revenue generation through effective billing practices and EHR optimization and will build and maintain the data and outcomes infrastructure that allows the organization to evaluate impact, satisfy funder requirements, and improve services on an ongoing basis. The CAO will develop and implement policies and procedures that drive efficiency and accountability, manage budgets with rigor and transparency and cultivate relationships with key vendors and service providers.

Equally important is the CAO's role as a people leader. The ideal candidate is someone who leads by example, develops the capabilities of their team, creates space for staff input and ownership, and maintains an accessible, supportive presence. They make timely, sound decisions; they synthesize complex information with confidence, and they approach problems with both analytical rigor and genuine care for the people around them.

Key Priorities for the First Year

- Conduct a thorough assessment of existing administrative systems, workflows, and team structures, identifying opportunities for integration and improvement.

- Establish strong, trust-based relationships with executive peers and departmental leaders across the organization-including HR and Public Relations-to build a unified administrative culture.

- Lead a review and optimization of billing operations and EHR systems to strengthen revenue performance and reduce administrative friction.

- Develop or refine a data governance and outcomes reporting framework that supports program evaluation, quality improvement, and strategic planning.

- Ensure full regulatory and accreditation compliance across all areas of administrative responsibility.

- Build and implement a quality improvement agenda that is data-informed, staff-engaged, and tied to measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced executive with a genuine commitment to mission-driven work and a track record of building high-functioning administrative operations. Qualified candidates will bring:

- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Administration, or a closely related field (or equivalent demonstrated executive experience).

- 10 or more years of progressive experience in senior administrative or executive leadership, ideally within a nonprofit, healthcare, or human services environment.

- Demonstrated expertise in IT systems, EHR platforms, billing operations, and data management in a regulated setting.

- Deep knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and outcomes-based management, with a track record of using data to drive meaningful change.

- Strong financial acumen, including budget development, resource allocation, and fiscal accountability.

- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; the ability to lead across departments and inspire confidence at all levels.

- A collaborative, inclusive leadership style grounded in ethics, integrity, and respect for the people and mission of the organization
