Program Summary:

The AIP Clinician is responsible for providing individual and group counseling services to AIP participants. The AIP Clinician conducts DV risk assessments, develops treatment plans and convenes and manages the MTT for all participants. The counselor reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct DV risk assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual and group sessions to all AIP participants.
  • Convenes and manages the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team for all participants.
  • Continually assesses participant's recidivism risk and provides evidence-based interventions and strategies (both group and individual) to reduce risks.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing skills to engage participants in services.
  • Participate in peer consultation with other DCF-contracted consultant and staff from other AIPs on regular basis as dictated by DCF.
  • Team with DCF on program development, implementation, and evaluation activities.
  • Maintain participant case files, data, and clinical documentation in EHR database in a professional and timely manner, according to program requirements.
  • Reports any non-compliance of attendance or program guidelines to supervisor.
  • Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operation of the program

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a professional mental health counseling licensure in the State of New Jersey (LPC or LCSW).
  • Must have a Master degree
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Must successfully complete the 60 Hour New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate and Domestic Violence Training. Training and experience in domestic violence is required, experience implementing CBT and other evidence-based approaches is preferred. 
  • Must possess strong group management skills and have knowledge of family systems, dynamics of intimate partner violence/domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse, co-custody parenting, child development and the cycle of violence.
  • Must possess strong crisis intervention skills and have firm knowledge of reporting laws. Must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain flexibility. 
  • Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends. 
  • Computer literacy and ability to utilize related software applications. 
  • Facilitators must maintain ongoing training and education relevant to the program in order to facilitate groups. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and public speaking is required.
