About the Juntos Program:
Juntos provides temporary shelter to unaccompanied children and teenagers who have crossed the southern border into the United States and are in need of a safe place to live. Our goal is to help children through these difficult circumstances and to minimize the impact by providing a warm and caring home that seeks to reunite children with their family. Services are focused on the safety of every child in our care. We utilize a Nurtured Heart, a trauma informed care approach, which emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for the children in our care and helps them rebuild a sense of control.Positions Summary:
Center for Family Services is seeking an experienced educational professional for the Teacher position for its Juntos Program. This is a full time position in a quickly growing organization that positively influences children and teens. The Teacher is experienced working with youth of all ages in a classroom setting and skillfully organizes and implements an instructional program that will result in children and teens achieving academic success.
Location: Voorhees, NJ
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Teacher forms positive, healthy relationships with children and families in the program. The individual listens to and respects others and embraces diversity. The Teacher provides leadership to staff and promotes a sense of agency with co-workers and staff and communicates in ways that support agency mission and values and also participates in training and presentations in social decision making and ripple effect curriculum. The Teacher conducts self as a role model in all interactions. This individual creates an educational assessment for each UAC youth, develops onsite classroom and ESL classes ensuring 6 hours of daily education, creates home assessments, tutoring and remote homebound education opportunities. The Teacher has strong written and verbal communication skills. This individual completes and implements weekly lessons plans and evaluates children's performance on a weekly basis, completes daily documentation such as attendance logs and daily sheets and creates educational field trips for UAC youth. The schedule for this position is generally 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
