Position Summary:

The Neighborhood Ally will be a part-time position and will focus on meeting and connecting Camden residents to resources and programs throughout the city. The position will work out of several neighborhood-based locations, including Community Centers (such as Cramer Hill, Isabel Miller, MLK, and Malandra Hall) to facilitate local outreach. The Neighborhood Ally will be a trusted member of the community and will build strong relationships with residents across the city.

Job Type/Status: Part Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish trust and effective relationships with residents in the communities and neighborhoods of Camden City.
  • Have a cross program knowledge and capacity to support connections between residents and resources, programs and services.
  • Help to identify gaps in services and resources when engaging with residents and partners.
  • Conduct door to door outreach; plan, host, and/or attend community events with the purpose of creating awareness and utilization of services.
  • Work closely with internal and external contacts to track service connections and frequent follow up with residents requesting information.
  • Assist with community-based Safe Corridors Network.
  • Engage in regular training workshops and community-led meetings to stay up-to-date on programs, services, and events happening in the city.

REQUIREMENTS:

A Camden resident seeking to improve their community through building awareness of and connections to engaging opportunities, resources, programs and services throughout the city. Ideal candidates will possess at least a high school diploma, with an interest in public speaking, community outreach, and be organized and motivated. Bilingual skills would be helpful in this position.
