POSITION SUMMARY:

ARRIVE Together, an initiative of the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, pairs mental health professionals with law enforcement officers during an identified behavioral health crisis response. As part of the ARRIVE Together team, The ARRIVE Together Mental Health Responder provides direct service to consumers are identified by law enforcement personnel as experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond with law enforcement personnel to psychiatric emergencies within the Warren County community. 

  • Provide video and face-to-face crisis intervention services to adults, older adults, and individuals with a secondary diagnosis of Co-Occurring and/or MR/DD as needed. 3. Develop comprehensive holistic assessments of consumers presenting to the ARRIVE Together program, including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and clients with secondary diagnosis of MR/DD; involve family members as indicated.

  • Reflect a trauma-informed approach to services; involve family members as indicated; re-evaluate plans as needed and at intervals specified in program procedures. 

  • Follow up with clients left in the community the day after initial assessment. 6. Interface with Emergency Services psychiatrists, Center Medical Director, St. Luke's Warren Hospital and Hackettstown Medical Center physicians as needed and as indicated in ARRIVE Together procedures; coordinate services with other area providers, the Court system, DCP&P, Probation as indicated. 

  • Advocate for clients to insure they are able to receive needed services. 8. Provide consultation on behavioral health and behavioral health management to community gatekeepers (e.g., police, correctional facilities staff) and the community at large regarding behavioral health in general, and for specific behavioral health emergencies. 

  • Provide face-to-face case management assessment at Center For Family Services locations and in the community, planning and directing services to consumers to enable access to and benefit from required/indicated community services and resources in support of consumer recovery and community integration goals. 

  • Provide case management as needed, for consumers who are identified by the ARRIVE Together initiative who are resistant to involvement in conventional treatment. 

  • Ensure that documentation meets Center standards for content, completeness and timeliness. 

  • Participate in Unit and Center performance improvement activities as assigned. 13. Meet regularly and as-needed with supervisor. 

  • Take responsibility for professional development by participating in a program of continuing education attain and maintain New Jersey Screener certification as required. 

  • Attend all Center and Unit meetings as needed. 

  • Adhere to all agency Policies and Procedures. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related behavioral health discipline licensed in the State of New Jersey plus 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting, OR 

  • BA in a related field plus 3 years of mental health experience, one of which is in a crisis setting; OR 

  • BA in a related field plus 2 years of mental health experience, one of which is in a crisis setting and currently enrolled in a Master's program,

 OR 

  • RN with 3 years full-time equivalent, post-RN, professional experience in the mental health field, one of which is in a crisis setting or, Licensed Clinician 

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field, from an accredited University 

  • License for independent practice in New Jersey, in good standing 

  • 2 years of supervised experience in working with mentally ill clients
