POSITION SUMMARY:

Center For Family Services is seeking a full-time, experienced professional who is passionate about workforce development and creating a  successful re-entry career pathway for justice-impacted individuals. The program provides participants with career readiness skills training through individual counseling sessions and group facilitation workshops; as well as providing career placement assistance to prepare participants for today's job market. The Employment Coach will help participants identify possible career paths and develop and improve their professional soft skills, as well as connect participants to job openings and career opportunities by developing relationships with local employers. This position works closely with internal and external partners and employers and will serve approximately 100 participants. The Employment Coach will support Center For Family Services' workforce development efforts through coordinating and supporting clear and viable pathways to success in the workforce. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview and assess participant's overall social support/employability needs and make referrals

  • Supports clients in job searching and placement. 

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients. 

  • Establish ongoing relationships with employers/worksites to provide a continuous supply of applicants when requested as well as monitoring any potential issues, complaints, and progress of recently placed participants.

  • Evaluates individual's background, skills, and interest and matches to potential job openings or training programs. 

  • Coaches and prepares candidate for interview and entry into the workforce.

  • Match applicant skills and experience with employer's requirement.

  • Support individuals to secure and retain job and advance in work settings.

  • Supervise employment to ensure people attain success in job placement and career objectives.

  • Coordinate career counseling, evaluation, skill training, job-readiness training, resume writing, interviewing techniques, job retention strategies and other activities within individual settings related to employment transition. Identify barriers to employment as well as solutions to said barriers.

  • Assist individuals with job application(s) and interview preparation processes

  • Provide individual counseling to identify participants personal goals, develop leadership skills and develop individualized employment plan

  • Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to assist with job retention/placement 

  • Provide individualized case management, to include monitoring and recording information in data system

  • Complete all statistical reports and essential documentation required for successful administrative purposes and record case materials promptly and properly

  • Develop community partnerships with local agencies to provide additional services/resources for participants

  • Develop and produce a professional resume for each participant

  • Maintain weekly contact with participants to track their progress to interview readiness

  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops to build employment readiness skills, to include resume development, teamwork, conflict resolution, etc.

  • Coordinate career exposure workshops and occasional job fairs

  • Work closely with internal CFS staff and partners to provide seamless services to participants

  • Recommend educational materials or resources to participants that create a college/career culture

  • Provide follow-up services to participants

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include weekends and evenings.

  • Other duties as required


REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in vocational counseling or social work, or related field, commensurate experience in relevant field may be acceptable in lieu of degree.

  • Certificate programs in Career or Life Coaching preferred.

  • Experience working with justice impacted individuals preferred. 

  • Experience working with second-chance employers 

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in workforce development with job placement experience strongly preferred.

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish a plus.

  • Experience in developing new employer relationships to collaborate with participants.

  • Current driver's license & a good driving record of 3 years.

  • Vehicle with current insurance and registration.

  • All positions require pre-employment drug screening and criminal record checks. Many positions require motor vehicle record evaluations and medical clearances.
