Job Type/Status: Full-Time

Salary: $18 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to staff, and promotes a sense of agency with co-workers and staff, and communicates in ways that support agency mission and values
  • Provides all food service in accordance with the Child Nutrition Programs and Board of Health standards
  • Responsible for complying with all local, state and federal standards regarding hygiene and sanitation
  • Ensures that all necessary items are in stock, not expired, and properly stored with a label indicating the date item was opened, stored, refrigerated, or frozen
  • Consults regularly with the dietitian to ensure all nutrition and special dietary needs of children are met
  • Reviews progress in professional development and growth objectives periodically with supervisor
  • Discusses family and staff issues, when necessary, only with designated appropriate staff
  • Reports any suspected child abuse and neglect per New Jersey's guidelines
  • Conducts self as a role model in interactions with other staff and families in accordance with Center for Family Services Code of Ethics
  • Interacts with children daily to ascertain whether they like the meals served
  • Responsible for understanding Head Start Performance Standards
  • Adheres to local Health Department codes
  • Oversees the implementation of a wellness plan for the program.
  • Participates in staff meetings and trainings
  • Collaborates with menu planning
  • Oversees the development of special diets according to physician instructions
  • Be aware of all special diets and food allergies
  • Reports all broken equipment as soon as possible
  • Reports to work on time and on scheduled days
  • Uses the proper call-out procedures and requests time off within the E3 system
  • Adheres to procedures when required to change the menu
  • Ensures food is ordered on time
  • Ensures that food is received, stored and served at the appropriate temperature
  • Keeps track of inventory
  • Dates all food items when received, and makes sure to use the oldest dated items before the newer
  • Keeps kitchen and storage areas clean and organized, and reports any sign of pests immediately to the Site Supervisor

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior work/volunteer history of working in a fast-paced food service environment

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have or be working toward and maintain an up-to-date ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certifications
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License in the state of his/her residence if job is classified as Occasional or Essential driving
  • Must have and maintain automobile insurance if driving a personal vehicle
